Ride for Refuge 2022 is ON!

We are so excited to announce that for the first time ever, Micah House will be the HOST of this year’s Hamilton Ride for Refuge! We are both excited and nervous about the prospect of hosting our own event!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Ride, it is an annual event that takes place across Canada where individual charities come together to fundraise by walking or riding a bike for their various causes! Micah House has participated in the Ride every year since 2008, with some of our participants even joining in virtually over the past two years!

However, the format has changed a little this year, meaning each participating charity will host their own event! As the hosts for the Hamilton area, Micah House will plan, organize and host the event all by ourselves (see why we said we were a bit nervous?)!

So, what does this mean for Micah House, our community, and the event itself?

The Ride will take place on October 1st, starting and ending at the Westdale Reformed Church in Hamilton, and all the funds that are raised will go towards supporting Micah House. Although we are anticipating a smaller event than in previous years, we are still hopeful that our wonderful Hamilton community will show up and support us as they always have!

Interested in helping our inaugural Micah House Ride for Refuge become a success? There are three main ways you can help!

1) Join our planning committee! Whether you want to help plan the event, organize the food station, or anything in between, we have a position for you! Help us plan and host an amazing event that will be talked about for years to come!

2) Volunteer on the day-of! We will need ride marshals, check-in volunteers, food servers and more! Not sure you can commit to helping to plan the event, but want to help make it a success? These day-of volunteers will bring joy to our riders and walkers and help ensure our event runs smoothly! The time commitment will be a couple of hours up to half a day.

3) Join a team and ride or walk with us! Want to ride or walk with us on the day of to help fundraise for Micah House? Visit RideForRefuge.org to join a team or create a new one and start fundraising today! It’s never too early to start telling your friends and family about your big ride (or walk!) on October 1st!
